WASPS: Nurturing spirituality, creativity and excellence

“I can do all these things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

At WASPS, our vision is rooted in a God who gives us the strength to flourish. We believe that, in all we do, whether working, supporting, creating or playing, we can always face challenge and achieve excellence when we are strengthened by a sense of spiritual belief and faith.

Our aim is to ensure that the children in our school become happy, confident, creative, resilient and self-motivated learners – we want them to learn about their best self and leave our care ready to make positive contributions to society. WASPS has a distinctly Christian ethos, where children learn about the importance of a set of Christian values and how these help us all to understand our importance and responsibility to any community we are part of. All that we do within school is rooted in “Nurturing Spirituality, Creativity and Excellence” – children develop their own sense or morals, learn to think in a creative and wide variety of ways and discover their own area of excellence.

“Each of you has received a gift in order to serve others.” Peter 4:10

At WASPS, the children and their learning are central to everything that we do. We strive to provide the highest quality of education intertwined within our set of Christian values and beliefs. These values are embedded into our learning and are developed through the wide range of experiences that we provide.

Our staff all work incredibly hard to create a learning environment that is safe, stimulating and creative. Children are encouraged to take risks and make mistakes when learning, and are supported to develop the resilience, confidence and self-motivation that will allow them to become life long learners.

Curriculum

Our vision is to provide a place of academic excellence which is rooted in a Christian school community, developing confident individuals who are enthused to be independent learners with transferable skills, strong morals and a responsibility for the environment. To enable this our curriculum is engaging and stimulating so that it generates an intellectual curiosity and resilience in the face of challenges. We provide creative experiences alongside key age-related tools of learning in reading, writing and maths, equipping our children with a life-long love of learning, memories of a uniquely enjoyable learning experience, a range of creative skills and social confidence. We encourage the understanding of a community as a place of collaboration and sharing, providing learning and extra-curricular activities that empower the children as learners and members of society.

As a large primary school WASPS has the space and resources to offer a broad and varied range of opportunities to our children. We have a large and skilful staff with a wide range of specialisms across the arts, sports and music, as well as literacy, maths, science and humanities subjects. We offer a rich and nurturing experience to all children through learning provision and extra-curricular activities. We passionately believe that the arts and sport play a key role in developing confidence, resilience and an understanding of the power of collaboration. As a school we strive for academic achievement and success for every child and intend for every member of the WASPS community to experience success in an area of specific interest.

“In a race all the runners run in such a way as to get a prize. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.” Corinthians 9:24-25
